The Fall foliage

Here are some pictures of the beautiful colors in this part of the country. The first one is a view out of the truck window while driving from Nashville to Pigeon Forge.

Both Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg are total tourist traps. I've never seen so many arcades and mini race tracks and other various amusements in one place. The trafic through town was bumper to bumper. Pigeon Forge is Dolly Parton's domain and it seems that maybe she owns the whole town.

We drove into the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. They really are mountains! Not as big as those in Colorado but respectable and beautiful. The higher elevations has received a dusting of snow and frost on the morning of our drive. The views were magnificient--reds, oranges, golds and deep burgundy or purple over all of the hills as far as the eye can see!

The last picture was taken at our lunch stop on the Blue Ridge Parkway a 4,780 feet. The highest point was a little over 6,000 ft. Look closely and you'll see Brendan beardless face! Its his new (scary!) Halloween costume. The other scary thing on the parkway was the tunnels. The lowest clearance was 13' 2" and since we are 13' tall--it was a kind of spooky.

You're both looking great, and the kids...wow! I can't believe how much they look like you, Bren!
Pete and I are here in Baton Rouge, La enjoying the nice weather and are heading on to FL to sell the house. Happy trails and safe journeys!
Love, b
