South Carolina,Georgia and northeastern Florida

While in Columbia, South Carolina we rented a canoe and paddled in the Congaree National Park and Swamp--the first and only national park in SC. The park is home to what are called "the Redwoods of the East"--ancient trees of record size. We saw some beautiful trees in, over and around the tranquil creek. It was a peaceful and pleasant experience.

We were thrilled to find "accessible" beaches outside of Savannah, Georgia on Tybee Island. The plastic mat made it possible for Brendan to get on the beach. We even rode our bikes for several miles on the beach!

Savannah is lovely with beautiful old homes and many city squares. We enjoyed a long stroll through the historic downtown residential area.

Further south and into Florida, we visited with Pete and Barb in St. Augusutine. They said to say "hi" to everyone (you know who you are). We toured and drank from Ponce de Leon's Fountain of Youth! Looking pretty young, don't you think?
We are having fun watching the beach activities as we drive down US A1A that runs along the Atlantic Ocean.

Our trip to the Kennedy Space Center was enjoyable. We saw lots of great NASA stuff including the launch pad that will be used for the shuttle Columbia next month. Even though we will be on the other side of Florida, we will be able to watch the launch because it's going to be at night!
